Well, I don’t feel that accomplished today but we got some stuff done. Had a meeting with the employees, did some thinking, setup Google Tag Manager, and some more thinking. It feels weird that this is work because with our Amazon business there was more physical work and having to go to the warehouse to make sure stuff was done. This better…but different.
So I feel like our employees are doing great. I’m very thankful we hired them and they are blazing through these contractor lists. Now we are about to be faced again, with the question of moving onto the next city or start adding other services. The problem with plumbing, electrical and hvac is you only need them every once in a while if you’re lucky. If we add other services like pest control, home cleaning, lawn care, etc, Fix it Today will have more opportunities for people to come to the app and use it. I’m not sure why it has taken me this long to realize that I’m advertising to people that don’t need services right now. Its great for brand awareness but I think we should be focusing on brand awareness vs leads when it comes to Facebook ads.
So are the Facebook ads even working? Yes and no. Our conversion rate for app download is quite low. Lots of traffic each day from the ads but not enough people downloading the app. Why is that? They don’t actually need it today. Nothing is broken. I’m asking for people to download the app in the chance they need it in the future. There is no instant gratification. What is the app doing for them today as a reward for downloading it? Hopefully when our home maintenance reminder is out, that will be their instant gratification.
With all that being said above, that brings me to the point, I may have to sell my soul to the devil (Google). My mind opened up today to realize I need to catch people in the actual moment of need, not the other 364 days a year. The only easy way to find people who are in need are finding people who are actively searching for service providers to come out and fix their house. So good news is, I think our name will help us stick out from the other advertisers. When you see 3 sponsored ads and one of them speaks to you and says Fix it Today….I would click it. Its like the website read my mind. The bad news is the horrendous cost. $40-110 per CLICK is what Google is saying it costs in our area. So we are gonna lose $20+ per click. I know not every click will lead to scheduled appointments so it could be way worse. I feel like we will spend a ton of money doing this but maybe its the “greater good”. Get our first couple hundred customers and pray for word of mouth after that, referral program, etc.
