Today felt like a wasted day. Didn’t seem to get much done for Fix it Today other than some pages on the site. The rest of the day was dealing with the government and the post office. Its amazing the hurdles you have to jump to get anything done.
So we are going to start doing $20 paid quotes. Fix it Today will pay new users to get a quote on something they need to get done anyways. I’m hopeful that they will take us up on the opportunity to get a quote they already were thinking about and get paid to do it. If things work out, our CAC will be $0 and may even make a bit of money. We will see if this works or not. Had to build out some tracking on our software and we will need to use some deep links. Probably use branch.io for the deep links. The developers have used it before and its free for 10,000 uses a month. Cant beat that.
So today the frustration started with the post office. Closing down our other businesses means forwarding mail for a while to a new address. I tried to fill it out online which make my life easy and theirs. Well, a couple of the addresses cant do it due to some sort of “mail collection center” or something like that. It said go to the post office. So I went. Stood in line for 15 minutes for them to tell me to do it online. I explained the website said I need to come in and get a paper form. They said they don’t have them anymore. So I ask “I can’t legally forward my address?”. The girl got upset and started yelling at me “there’s no reason to argue because we don’t have the forms!”. Great. Went to another post office (a tiny little one at our old warehouse park) and Frankie was still there. She is still wonderful. Helped me out with a couple paper forms but didnt have enough. Thats ok, I completely appreciate her help. We haven’t been over there in 2.5 years and she remembered our business name when I turned in the paper form. She yelled “I remember ya’ll… we still get you Amazon packages!!” LOL. 2.5 years later Amazon is finding inventory that was supposed to be sent back 2.5+ years ago and decided to send it. Absolutely amazing.
So change of address with the post office is just the beginning. We have to change our address with all of the people that send us mail. That includes the state of Texas. We have to do Texas Workforce Commission, Secretary of State and Comptroller address changes. I pray thats all. Well with the Workforce commission I can’t change it online. I call and they ask…are you in your tax account or your employee benefits account? There’s two different places? 🧐 Apparently I was logged into the tax account and need to log into the EBS account. Tried logging in over there and it says I don’t have administrator access on the account. Who has it “TWC Administrator”. Guess I’m going to have to call them again.
So need to change the addresses for the business. There has always been a funky relationship between the secretary of state and comptroller. I Google it and the SOS says to change the address on the comptrollers website. Ok, go to do that, seems straight forward but it only changed the mailing address. Our registered agent shows the old address. Ok, how do I change that? Not on the comptrollers website…back to the secretary of states website and you have to pay $15 to change the address. Really?? Free on one but not on the other? Its an odd system, you have to put a card on file for 1 hour while you do your edits then they charge you at the end of the hour…..or something like that. I dunno. I think I have it all done. I hope I have it all done.
