Oct 21, 2024 – SEO Day

Well, I wasn’t totally sure what needed to get done today and ending up with was mostly SEO. Started off with a normal Monday developer meeting which went great and the day just flew by. Mostly busywork in the end.

Developer meeting went quick. Had to approve a couple wireframes where we are extending the home reminders app. One of the developers suggested we should also add simple invoice management. While warranties covers some stuff…there are things like when your A/C guy comes and services your A/C, you have the invoice. You have proof you did your end and had it serviced for the warranty. This was a simple and great idea. I feel like we keep adding and it will never get done but the good news is, the initial reminders app is being tested tomorrow and will hopefully be released Wednesday. After that, we will send out an update in a week or so with the new work. Spent some time on priorities for each developer and making sure we are getting stuff done in the order we need. I got a friendly reminder we need icons for the warranty items. No problem, contact the icons guy we used multiple times in the past.

Had a meeting with Scott the SEO guy. We have new pages on the site but we need a new landing page for all of these services. While they put something together, he admits it would be best for us to get a designer involved and build a template. No problem, we used a guy not long ago and I liked his work. Time to hit him up. Scott also gave me an assignment to take care of. 31 business citations to do. That actually took 3-4 hours to go to each website, create account, figure out how to list the company, etc. A few of the companies need to approve the business first, so I have some follow up work to do. Hopefully these will offer some decent backlinks to our business as well, giving it more credibility. He also told me we got another link from Better Homes and Garden’s website. We have 3-4 of them now and one from Real Simple. Great progress…I just hope Google displays us as a service provider, not a directory. We should rank well against local pages.

No appointments over the weekend. Hmm…gotta figure this out. Hopefully Scott’s expert skills with Google ads will help us out. We will just need to test it and see. Started thinking we should try paying stay at home moms to post about Fix it Today on Facebook and Nextdoor. Simple paid advertising but paying people not companies. Im not sure if we can offer enough but if someone made say 200 posts a month and we paid them $200/month… Its not bad. Im not sure if $1/post is enough for them to be willing to do it, but at the same time, if they are already on these platforms, its not hard to just add a post or a few posts a day while you’re already doom scrolling. What do you think?
