Oct 16, 2024 – Ads, Ads, Ads – BTW Anyone Ever Get Paid for an Estimate?

Today started off not great. I was freaking tired this morning when I woke up. Not sure if it was the wrong part of a sleep cycle or what butI was beat. So I took a nap 😴 When I woke up, I was refreshed and ready to work. Work didn’t start right away, it coming up on lunch time so I figured I’d wait it out. Only spent a few hours at the office today but in the end they were productive.

So I decided to focus on Google ads today. With the recommendation of Scott to just make some ads and test and see what happens, that was the plan. A quick video on Youtube to get some guidance and I was off to the races. One of the first things was leads or website traffic…I wasn’t sure. I decided traffic because I don’t want a form to call people back. Added headlines, descriptions, call outs…man, that add looks cluttered. Ad score was crap according to their grading thing…not great. So I reached out to my FB ads guy who works for us. He didn’t have much experience. Ok, back to Scott. How much is it going to cost? Scott said he would set it up for free because he wasnt sure it would work and he would feel bad for wasting our money and making money on it. Such a great dude. Im super thankful he has pity on me and going to help me out 🤣

So what did I lean from the Google ads? With just the plumbing keywords, it said we can get “conversions”, which I assume would be clicks to the website, for about $5.50. Thats a hell of a lot better than the $40 keyword planner was telling me. $5.50 is affordable! Where we actually land, I dunno. Won’t know until Scott, my savior, gets the ads up and running. Maybe Google ads will be achievable and really help us out. Time will tell

So looking through providers I saw there were a couple more companies offering free quotes than I would have though. It makes sense though, on high ticket items (AC replacement for example) they do. I see Facebook ads for tons of trades businesses because of what business we are in and see lots of free estimate ads. Have you ever seen a “Get paid $20 to get and estimate”??? NO. My new ad is born. I desperately need to get more homeowners on the platform and I think we should try PAYING homeowners to get a quote. Its something they are already looking to get done because $20 isn’t enough to sit around and wait for a company to show up. We get high quality leads for big ticket jobs. Providers will love the leads, we don’t lose money as a platform, and we generate more movement on our platform. I think this may work. Again, time will tell. My Facebook ads guy needs to create some new ads and target the same people. I really need to generate some tracking for the leads though… Will talk to the developers tomorrow.
