Oct 10, 2024 – New Tools Day

Well, today was a small but big shift in our business for our employees. We are getting more organized and condensing the amount of “things” we need in our business. Right now we use Skype for chat, Google sheets for information sharing, Grasshopper for phones, our software for backend stuff…. today we changed to Zoom and us.

So, I was frustrated the other day with Zoom and the license/calling plan thing but I will give them credit. We needed to port a single toll free number and their team did great. We submitted the paperwork that Grasshopper rejected initially. Changed one small detail and it went through. Their support person gave updates along the way and it was done sooner than expected. The number was ported over and we were good to go.

So we condensed our phones and chat to Zoom. We pay for phones, the chat is free. I think it was a good move because we can add users who dont need phone for free so they can chat with the team and we are using a unified platform. We have a little more employee monitoring at the same time. So far so good, everything seemed to work out smoothly today.

We started using our own CRM today. Its a very simple CRM. We get results from the Google Maps API for businesses, then upload the sheet to our CRM. I know people are going to ask why dont we just upload it to the database? Well, we need to give it a once over before its on our official calling list. We also tag it with the area so we know which geographical area each list belongs to. What we are lacking though is the service. Better add that to the list. So like any new software, we had a couple issues. The call list needs to have a way to move businesses to another status. We need to clear off businesses off the main “to be contacted” page once we call them at least once. We have multiple people working on the same screen so if person 1 calls company 1, person 2 may try and call company 1 at the same time. We need a button to click basically to say, hey, Im calling this person. Maybe we can highlight the row or something instead? We just need a way to mark that the company has been contacted. We will see what the developers come up with.

Overall for the changes that happened today, I think today went well. I worked on the site a bit and started building the founder profiles for the about us page. This has been a request by Scott our SEO guy for a while. Im way behind on stuff like this. Actually my business partners are even further behind because I need headshots for the site.
