I was up late last night because of the election. Didn’t sleep but a few hours because the developer meeting at 5:30am. I don’t feel like a ton got done today but I over came a hurdle that really seemed to hurt my head the other day. I wrote a SOP for adding new service pages to our website. We will see how it works out and if the pages rank.
So developer meeting went well as expected. Not thrilled the app isn’t ready for release on the app store yet but we are making some changes. Something goofy with the new scraper. It works well on local host but not on our server. I cranked up the resources a bit to give it a test. Our development server was on a wimpy 1 core an 2gb of ram server. Didn’t need much for resources back then but now it has a little lifting to do. I’ll give it a test and see what happens. Talked in depth about the custom quote thing and went through a wireframe. I asked the developers to put together a time estimate before we move forward. If its this is a major time suck, we may need to wait until later to do it.
So the thing that plagued my mind earlier this week was trying to develop a system for SEO landing pages. Each city we cover needs a service page. So plumbing Dallas, plumbing Ft Worth, plumbing Southlake, etc. We knew that we needed about 300 pages to cover DFW. Scott did the hard work and searched by population size and prioritized the list for me at the beginning of our contract. So luckily I had a bit of a head start. I’m really happy we have some example pages that are ranking that Scott built to essentially copy.
So we are using ChatGPT and Neuron Writer to get this done. I wrote down all of the steps in a logical order for a SOP for the VA to follow. Its 65 steps! Seems overwhelming but whenI went back through and made videos for her, it didnt actually seem that bad. I split it into 5 steps. The last step being the hardest which is copy/paste all of the info into the actual page. Once I sat down with a clear head, I got it knocked out in an hour or so. I don’t know why it felt so daunting the other day and I just couldn’t think straight to make a process. I think the real reason was needing a break. Tomorrow we train on how to do it and we have videos to refer back to when building these pages. My goal is 3-4 pages per day. Im going to have the VA draft them and then we will look them over before we actually publish them. We will publish slower than the drafts come out but we will increase velocity later on.
Week is already half way over. It’s amazing how time flies right by. The progress is very slow but I feel like we are moving forward. New providers signing up though we don’t have a ton of homeowners yet. SEO is starting to work and we are getting clicks which is big. Hopefully with another 290 pages, Google will keep blessing us with impressions. 300 pages is just plumbing, hvac and electrical. We have pest control providers and cleaning companies starting to show up. Thats another 200 pages to build long term!
