This will be short but I think it’s important to see that we went out of our way to actually validate the idea. Our freinds and family all told us it was a great idea.
Person 1: My wife took our son to “Little Gym” where toddlers do gym stuff. Im thankful I dont have to go because a room full of screaming kids is not my thing. One of the mom’s was talking about how she needed to have her house cleaned, like today. She had family coming in unannounced and would have paid anything to have a professional come in a clean her house. My wife floated Fix it Today and her response was “why isnt this up and running yet”. I’ll take that.
Nursing coworkers – while these people aren’t strangers to me, they are just work acquaintances more or less. I float the idea and the overwhelming response was “I hate having to call people, they never answer the phone” to “I cant ever find someone available that works for me…I’d have to take off work”. Couple other responses were along the line of “why hasn’t someone made this already?” to “I’d use it for sure”. Lets talk about that “why hasnt someone made this already?” That one hits hard…. why hasn’t someone done this already?
The lady at the bank – while doing a wire transfer, I was just chit chatting and told her about Fix It Today. She said “Finally!”. Apparently she had been wanting something like this for a long time.
Ok, there are more people we talked to, cant remember them all but the key is, it wasn’t our friends and family. You need people that will give you honest feedback that has nothing to lose. I will tell you, when my coworker asked why no one else had built a system like this, I began to have a lot of doubts…
