Dec 4, 2024 – Pitch Deck Complete

Today our first pitch deck came back from the designer. It looks pretty good.. Way better than anything I would have done. Few extra slides to pick a version of the slide we like. Since we got it…it was time to reach out.

Well, I reached out to two people today. One is Eurie Kim from Forerunner Ventures. I think Forerunner could be a good fit because they specialize in consumer based companies. While we are a marketplace, we do consumer and business but our struggle is more with consumer. The business side is strictly a numbers game. They are also big into the business model evolution. I believe we are taking an existing business model of finding home providers and changing it for the homeowner and the service provider. We are changing the status quo and make it a much better experience for both parties.

I also reached out to Bryan Chambers from Capital Factory here in Texas. Reaching out to Capital Factory today was more about getting into their system than it was trying to raise money. Capital Factory has an awesome network of partners (possibly to raise) as well as mentors. I think strong mentors will probably be more valuable than money in the short term. Finding people who have done similar things and help us avoid major (and expensive) growth strategies will be a huge advantage with a limited budget. Capital Factory is more on the angel side it seems than VC but I think they can be a great asset. Bryan was very nice and responded to my cold DM and asked me to send over a deck. While I won’t hold my breath, I truly appreciate his time and willingness to even respond.

Im really hopeful that either of them (hopefully both of them) would give me the opportunity to really explain our business. I think its a HUGE problem with a very large market. Its a common pain point and I feel like once homeowners can see/and or experience the difference, they will be a believer. Hopefully we can build believers and cheerleaders about how great it is to simply have a place to get someone to come fix their house without all of the complex nonsense they are used to. Im currently watching the Network Effects Masterclass by NFX. So far its been a wealth of knowledge and leaning how to apply the principals of a network effect can skyrocket success. I believe that our system can have that network effect as we have discussed previously. The more people that use Fix it Today, the lower we can bring prices. Not because of competition, but because of lower costs. Each party in this transaction (homeowners, providers and us) can truly benefit and win together. I’ll be trying to find a way to get a hold of NFX as a possible investor in the future.
