Well today wasn’t seeming too great as I continued researching marketing and trying to find a way to generate content. Man it sucks and I really don’t want anything to do with it but I dont have a choice right now. Had a meeting with a local startup that could change everything for us.
So a guy reached out to me from LinkedIn and thought we should have a Zoom call. I obliged hoping to get to know more people and man….what can I say. This can be a huge help for both of us. So this other company is a startup in the real estate business. They do turnkey make readies for apartments and houses. When a tenant moves out, they come in and touch everything up, clean the place, etc and get it ready for the next tentant.
Well, their first customer is a large apartment investor with over 5,000 apartment units, most of them here in the DFW area. He says he “selfishly” reached out looking to see if we can help him. Thankfully did because this helps both of us. They are a proptech company that also manages property turnover. With this, they don’t have a way to offer what he called maintenance. He was referring to clogged toilets, broken air conditioners, etc. We just happen to specialize in that. So he bring us 4-5k apartment units maintenance and we offer him a slick and easy way for the property owners to consolidate their staff and reduce costs while easing management.
So ideally we will have an API that will integrate with his software and allow his property owners to simply book appointments from his software. Good news is, we already have an API setup as we use it with our mobile app. I’m sure we will need a little more build out of the API but it won’t take much. I need to get some customer segregation built out as property management companies will need a bit better pricing compared to retail homeowners due to the volume. This will be on me to work out with the service providers. I don’t think I will get much resistance on this one as they will welcome the work. We will welcome the hundreds or thousands of appointments a year.
So this brings up the question….are we headed in the right direction as to advertising to homeowners? Getting a small handful of these property managers or property owners could really change the whole game for us. We could also try and reach out to other proptech companies and offer the same API integration and as we pop up in a new market, they have more offerings to their owners and it doesn’t cost them a dime. If we have enough property owners on the system, we can ask them where we need to pop up into the next market and build it out. If there are hundreds or thousands of units in an area, we can hit the ground day 1 with business for the service providers. This changes everything and we may need to pivot.
