Since deciding on wanting to try and raise money for the business, I need to learn about it. Its a whole new world which I know nothing about but need to learn quickly. I’m thankful for the internet.

Started the day with a bright and early developer meeting. Not much to discuss. I don’t have any more crazy ideas to add to the workflow just yet but have some AI ideas and how to expand the app. My project manager wanted to implement some AI to get context on the issue and find the correct service. Right now we just have a simple keyword search and he wants to add semantic search. Let the AI understand what your problem is and then find the correct service to book. I think its a great idea but we will need to see the cost of the chatgpt API per query. I’d like to take it one step further and run a basic troubleshooting with the customer before booking an appointment. If your electrical outlet stops working, lets see if its the outlet or the item you’re plugging in. Lets see if there is a GFCI outlet that tripped and finally lets look at the breaker box. Can we help the customer with some basic troubleshooting? Realistically, does this help us or hurt us scheduling appointments? I think we buy loyalty at the cost of booking appointments. A trade off I’m ok with.

So I have to create a pitch deck. I started looking and lots of varying opinion on what goes in it, the order, how long it should be, etc. I determined Im going with 8 ish slides and just doing the basics. Story slide of why we created Fix it Today, the problem, the solution, market, traction, team, ask… Im forgetting something. Hey…Im still learning.

Reaching out to angels is a whole new thing to learn too. Apparently cold outreach is very unlikely to work but still I’m going to try it. I have ZERO social media skills or Linked in Skills which seems like that is going to really hurt. None of my business partners have any of these skills either. Warm intros are not likely to happen. I think cold outreach and possible angel list groups are going to be our key. Found a guy on Youtube that runs a angel investing group that offers free office hours (next free ones are in January) or I can pay $150 for his time. I think we will pay for his time to get feedback now.

Watching some videos and understanding that investors often do not know or understand your market which means you need to spell it out in crayon. Good thing for us, I believe everyone we talk to will have had the experience of something breaking at their home and they should be able to relate. We are not pitching content creator software. Our niche is very down to earth, needed by almost everyone in some fashion and has been experienced by just about everyone. While Im not holding my breath, it sure does give a little relief it should be easy to explain what we do.
