Today was another day of what I feel like not a lot getting done with Fix it Today. I feel like there is a lot of stuff to do but it’s not work that I can always do. The good news is my business partners are back in town and we had a good meeting to make sure we are all on the same page. I have been flying by the seat of my pants making decisions, like hiring 3 people without really speaking to my business partners.
So we had a good lunch today and sat and talked about life and business for 3 hours. I’m glad they felt like the decisions Annette and I have made over the last 2 weeks were a good idea. We told them about the multiple hires, deciding to build a home maintenance reminder tool into our current app, pivoting on ads and we squared up we are going to add more services to DFW before moving on.
I think that adding services to our existing area will help get home owners onboard. Like I talked about previously, it will open the door to more opportunities and maybe different people looking for things and then hopefully they will see all of the other services out there they can also use. People who use home cleaning services likely have someone come and mow their yard. These same people likely are less likely to do DIY for HVAC, plumbing and electrical. That may be generalizing but I think its true.
This will really help open the door to doing Google ads. Now another skill I need to learn or hire out. There are lots of agencies out there but man…I just don’t trust they will care about our project near as much as we will. We can’t afford lots of wasted dollars here in the beginning. We need to be strategic with our money until we get money coming in. We should hopefully start building that code here in the near future.
Since we are going to add services, I need to come up with lists of service providers. We had a guy that did the work for us but he no longer works for us. He sent me the script but for some reason I cannot get the python script to run correctly. So, sent James a skype message hoping he can help me out. He’s a great guy and I’m assuming he can help. I setup another server for him hoping he will. We need a better system anyways. Depending on me to try and run a python script when I don’t know what Im doing isn’t a reliable long term method anyways. Hopefully I’ll hear from James soon.
