Today was a good day of getting providers onboard…well kinda. We hit a snag. I woke up to a message from a provider saying he isn’t getting any text message for his OTP to get his account signed up. Crap. Well, I also saw a message from the developers saying that they hit the max usage of SMS messages on our account. Normally each SMS is very cheap and $50 goes a long way. Well, not when you’re texting to another country. Asked for an increase from Amazon and waiting to hear back. Our limit resets on Sept 1 which is launch day. Im praying they approve our increase quickly.
So my sister is helping make some cold calls and she messaged me early on saying she had two plumbers who wanted sign on!! So excited she got a hold of people who would listen and wanted to sign up. First off, that boosts her confidence that shes doing a good job, and second, we got two new providers. This is going to sound crazy but I don’t even have a way to see who has signed up. I’d have took into the actual database. Gotta fix that. Developers are building a simple page to see provider info in our admin panel. How many acutal people have signed up? Not sure. How many of each service type? Not sure. Do we have decent coverage across the DFW metroplex…maybe.
So I went back through the website and started to go down any business leads that were collected. Called everyone and found two possibilities. One is an appliance repair company and Im waiting to hear back from them. The other was a locksmith. I was able to talk to him and he is signing up. Great news…now I need to hurry up and build out those services on the admin portal for him and any other locksmith that signs up. I guess we will be starting with some more service lines than we expected. Now the question is should I try and contact some others like pest control? I mean, we show it on our website lol.
Small gripe – Im trying no to rely on Google for everything but damn it…they make it easy. Workspace has everything we need (now including some meeting/booking software). Their email setup is good, you have google docs which we all use to share docs, now calendar/booking which was the big thing missing. I just pray it can integrate with multiple google calendars.
Edit – WTF Google. I signed up for another Google workspace account for founders.inc. Decided to move there permanently due to all the crap it comes with. While setting up the DNS records, I had this random though.. What about DKIM and SPF records? I need these so my stuff doesnt all go to spam. THEY DONT HAVE YOU SET IT UP BY DEFAULT! For the last year or more we have been using Gmail for various website domains and NONE OF THEM HAVE DKIM OR SPF RECORDS! How on Earth could Google miss something this big? Every single account should automatically start setting both of these up when you setup your MX records. INSANE!
