Would You Use a Website or an App?

If you look at the statistics from someone, allegedly 1/2 of all internet traffic is from mobile phones. Almost everyone here in the US has a computer in their pocket and the average American spends almost 4.5 hours a day on their phone. When we started to develop Fix it Today, my project manager wanted to build the app first. I disagreed. I wanted to build the website first. When your house breaks, you don’t go to the app store to find a plumber….or do you?

Ok, so we decided to build the website first. Its all in Node.js. Its the powerhouse behind everything we do. After completing most of the web app, we decided to go ahead and start development of the mobile app. Again, if you didnt see it before, we are using React Native for the app because you can simply build one app that works for iOS and Android. The mobile app development flew by. I couldn’t believe how fast our developer cranked it out….she is amazing. That being said, she had it a little easier because she only needs to connect to the Node.js endpoints and call the data. The “hard work” has been for our backend developer. He is AWESOME.

While we had to make a hard decision about web app or mobile app first, by the time we launch Fix it Today (17 days or so and counting), we should have both up and running for day 1. Just the other day, our mobile apps were approved for both the app store and play store! We are excited our launch date is around the corner….now we need to focus on getting providers onboard.
